In Milan, the tourist tax is set to increase starting from January 1, 2026.
This increase is due to the hosting of the Winter Olympics, which will take place from February 6 to 22. For 4- and 5-star hotels, the new tax rate will be €10 per night per person. 3-star hotels will pay approximately €7.40, 2-star hotels around €5 and 1-star properties about €4 per night. Half of these funds will be invested into projects related to the Olympic Games. The hotel industry in Milan has expressed concerns about the potential impact of this increase on tourist traffic, fearing that it could lead to a decline in visitors.
