Forbes Media and Unforgettable Travel Company have published a rating of the “50 most beautiful villages in the world in 2025 according to experts.”
The list includes settlements with great tourist potential. The experts evaluated the villages according to the following criteria: natural beauty, architectural heritage, cultural authenticity. Biberi from Great Britain took the first place, Hallstatt (Austria), Rheine (Norway), Githotn (Netherlands) and Gasadalur (Faroe Islands, Denmark) made the top five. There is a large representation of settlements from Europe in the ranking, with Shirakawa-go (Japan) taking the highest place outside this part of the world (9). Tatev from Armenia was the only village from the former Soviet Union that appeared on the list (48 place). The village is located near Kapan and is known for the monastery complex of the late IX – early XX centuries.
