Gibraltar: restrictions and entry requirements 2024

Country’s borders status

Borders of Gibraltar are temporarily closed. 

People who in the past 10 days have been in Afghanistan, Angola, Argentina, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Botswana, Brazil, Burundi, Cape Verde, Chile, Colombia, Congo (Dem. Rep.), Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Rep., Ecuador, Egypt, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, French Guiana, Georgia, Guyana, Haiti, Indonesia, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Maldives, Mayotte, Mexico, Mongolia, Montenegro, Mozambique, Myanmar, Namibia, Nepal, Oman, Pakistan, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Reunion, Rwanda, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Suriname, Tanzania, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey, Uganda, Uruguay, Venezuela, Zambia or Zimbabwe are not allowed to enter.

This doesn’t apply to:

  • holders of a British passport with nationality «British Overseas Territories Citizen» issued by Gibraltar;
  • holders of a British passport born in Gibraltar;
  • residents of Gibraltar;
  • British citizens with a national ID card issued by Gibraltar;
  • citizens and residents of Spain returning via Gibraltar to Spain.

Coronavirus information

Arriving people must have a negative COVID-19 antigen, LAMP or PCR test result in English, French or Spanish of a test taken not more than 48 hours before arrival. Passengers’ details (name, date of birth or age) on the test result must match those stated in the passport or other travel document. The test result must also include the contact details of the issuing laboratory. 

This doesn’t apply to:

  • children under 8;
  • children between 8 and 12 arriving from a country other than Afghanistan, Angola, Argentina, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Botswana, Brazil, Burundi, Cape Verde, Chile, Colombia, Congo (Dem. Rep.), Costa Rica, Dominican Rep., Ecuador, Egypt, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, French Guiana, Guyana, Haiti, India, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Maldives, Mongolia, Mozambique, Namibia, Nepal, Oman, Pakistan, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Qatar, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Suriname, Tanzania, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey, Uganda, the United Arab Emirates, Uruguay, Venezuela, Zambia or Zimbabwe;
  • holders of a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated with Janssen at least 2 weeks before departure, or fully vaccinated with AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech. They must be arriving from a country other than Afghanistan, Angola, Argentina, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Botswana, Brazil, Burundi, Cape Verde, Chile, Colombia, Congo (Dem. Rep.), Costa Rica, Dominican Rep., Ecuador, Egypt, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, French Guiana, Guyana, Haiti, India, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Maldives, Mongolia, Mozambique, Namibia, Nepal, Oman, Pakistan, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Qatar, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Suriname, Tanzania, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, Uruguay, Venezuela, Zambia or Zimbabwe. They must also update the vaccination certificate on the passenger locator form.

Arriving people:

  • must present a barcode upon arrival obtained after completing a passenger locator form;
  • could be subject to a COVID-19 test upon arrival. The test must be booked before arrival. Details can be found here;
  • could be subject to self-isolation for up to 10 days. This doesn’t apply to holders of a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated with Janssen at least 2 weeks before departure, or fully vaccinated with AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech. They must update the vaccination certificate on the passenger locator form.
